PRINCIPAL ELEMENTARY
Liberty Elementary School

Dear Liberty Families,

I am excited to begin my third year as principal of Liberty Elementary and to continue to support the students, staff, and families for the 2022-2023 school year.  I joined PVUSD in 2011. Before coming to Liberty, I served six years as a teacher at Copper Canyon Elementary and three years as the Assistant Principal at Eagle Ridge Elementary. Prior to moving to Arizona from Florida in 2011, I was a reading specialist, a new teacher mentor, and a classroom teacher for eleven years in grades Pre-K through 5. I graduated from the University of Florida with both Bachelor and Master of Education degrees. I earned a second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Arizona State University in 2017.

My husband, Dave, and I have been married since 1995, and we have two beautiful daughters, Ava and Lily.  Ava is in her senior year at the University of Arizona, and Lily is a junior at the University of Florida.  When I have free time, I enjoy adventures with my family, hiking, going to the movies, traveling, and reading.

For the 2022-2023 school year, we will be continuing to expand our implementation of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) through collaborative, engaging, and rigorous instruction within our classrooms. We have also added a 4th Special Area, so Liberty students will enjoy PE, Art, Music and STEAM throughout each month.

We will continue to implement a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework with our STARS program emphasizing Safe, Trustworthy, Accountable, Respectul, and Supportive expectations. We are introducing a new Social Emotional Learning program this year called Second Step. This curriculum is currently being used in many other PVUSD schools and focuses on Growth Mindset & Goal Setting, Emotion Management, Empathy & Kindness, and Problem-Solving.

In honor of our 45 year anniversary, our school theme for the 2022-2023 school year is Growing Greatness. Many know the quote: “From tiny seeds, grow mighty trees.”  Thank you for sharing your children with us this year. We are excited to support our students as they grow into curious, creative, intelligent, confident, and kind Patriot citizens and leaders.

Growing Greatness Together!
